Essential Question: How will completing the 8th into 9th Grade Course Planning Paper help me to
complete the Grade 9 Course Selection Worksheet?


Goals and Checklist:

1. Select and prioritize three elective courses.

2. Sign your name in the upper left-hand corner next to Student Signature of the

Grade 9 Course Selection Worksheet.
3. When instructed, gently remove the white copy of Grade 9 Course Selection Worksheet and
give to Miss Jones.

4. Students will take home the yellow and pink copies to parents/guardians.

5. Parents/guardians will review all course selections on the Grade 9 Course Selection Worksheet and letter from Miss Jones.

6. If parents/guardians want to change any of the teacher academic recommendation(s) they need to printout, complete, and return to Armstrong Guidance the Change of Course Waiver Request form listed below.

7. If parents/guardians want to make any changes to the elective courses, please simply cross out the currently listed elective and indicate the new choice. Change the order of priority if necessary.

8. Parents/guardians should sign the yellow copy and keep the pink copy of the Grade 9 Course Selection Worksheet for their records.

9. Students need to return the signed yellow copy to his/her Homeroom Teacher by Wednesday,
March 22, 2017.

11. In May 2017, Truman High School will create a tentative course listing/letter for you and your child to review. This document will be given to your child at Armstrong. Please be prepared to review this document carefully and respond as the letter instructs. Thank you.

12. During summer 2017, Truman High School will review your child's selected courses along with his/her 2016 PSSA Scores. Based on the criteria listed in the Math Course Placement 2017 - 2018 and Science, Social Studies and English 2017 - 2018, they will only contact you if they are recommending any course changes. If you disagree with the recommended changes, you will need to complete a Change of Course Waiver Request and return it to Truman's Guidance Department by their deadline date. Please see below for the three documents.
